Origin of tango
The origin of tango dates back to the second half of the 19th Century. Due to slavery, African traditions were part of American life at that time. And also ships full of European immigrants arrived to the region. So it is not a coincidence that the tango is a fusion of elements. Among them, we recognize the Afro-American cultures, the Creole and the European impact. Certainly the most important influences were the contradanza, the candombe and the milonga.
